This Privacy Policy explains how Rooted in Respect ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit rootedinrespect.com (the "Site"). Rooted in Respect is a collaborative initiative of Indigenous Regeneration, Un Mar de Colores, and The Queer Sol Collective, supported by The San Diego Foundation's Thrive Outside Cohort.
We respect your privacy and aim to be transparent about what information we collect and why. 1. Information We Collect We collect information in the following ways: Information you give us. When you fill out our "Partner with Us" form, contact us, request a training, contribute a story, or join our educator directory, you may provide your name, email address, organization, role, and any message or content you choose to share. Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider (Wix.com) automatically collects standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URL. This is used to keep the Site secure and to understand how visitors use it. Donations. If you make a donation through our Site, payment is processed by [INSERT

We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We may receive your name, email, donation amount, and any message you include with your donation. Cookies and similar technologies. How We Use Your Information We use the information we collect to: • Respond to your inquiries, training requests, or partnership questions. • Acknowledge donations and send tax receipts (where applicable). • Send you updates, newsletters, or invitations to convenings — only if you have opted in. • Maintain and improve the Site, including troubleshooting technical issues. • Comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising or marketing by third parties.
3. Sharing of Information We share information only in limited circumstances: • Service providers. 4. Indigenous Knowledge and Cultural Materials Rooted in Respect centers Indigenous voices, knowledge, and sovereignty. Any stories, traditional knowledge, or cultural materials shared with us through the Site or in connection with our programs remain the property and responsibility of the contributing community or knowledge holder. We will not publish, share, or use such materials without explicit, informed consent from the community or knowledge holder, in accordance with their cultural protocols.
5. Data Retention We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law. You may request deletion of your information at any time (see Section 7).
6. Security We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including those provided by our hosting platform Wix.com — to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate information. • Delete your information ("right to be forgotten"). • Opt out of email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. • Object to certain uses of your information. California residents (CCPA / CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, request deletion, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. EU / UK residents (GDPR): You have the rights described above plus the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. 8. Children’s Privacy The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through our Site, please contact us and we will delete it promptly. 9
